Kitchen Design Expansion

Beautiful farmhouse · great location · Small kitchen

This beautiful 1986 home had it all; a picturesque, wooded yard, great location, a ton of room for a family to grow…and a very small, outdated kitchen that could not, and would not keep up with rest of the spacious dimensions through the rest of the home.

Situated between the formal dining room and family room, the kitchen already had its own breakfast bar and eat-in area. That meant that at any given time, there was three separate places to eat. One had to go to provide room to expand the kitchen and the formal dining room got the boot.

The wall between the kitchen and formal dining room came down, more cabinetry was added on the outside wall with a handsome wood countertop and matching shelves and the obvious showstopper: a 16-foot island with a farmhouse sink and gold accents.

The function and flow of the kitchen and formal dining room have merged seamlessly without sacrificing any seating. It’s also easier to entertain in one open space vs. two.

Here is the result…
